Sea/Beach Lifeguard Certification

A Beach Lifeguard (or Sea Lifeguard) is responsible to protect life and provide safety cover in the sea, ocean or open water environment. The operational environment places very specific demands on the skills and knowledge expected of a competently trained lifeguard.

This Beach Lifeguard course, under the International Life Saving Federation (ILS), is structured to educate participants about safety in the ocean environment, administer first aid in the event of injury, use of different rescue techniques & equipment to rescue swimmers/surfers in distress, administer CPR and use of defibrillator.

 Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will receive an internationally recognised certificate from ILS through its Indian member body of Indian Life Saving and Life Saving Sports Federation (ILLSF). Candidates will be recognised all around as a certified lifeguard.

Entry Requirements for the Course:


Candidates should :

  • Be at least 18 years of age at the time of assessment.
  • Be able to complete a 400-meter swim in less than eight minutes.
  • Be able to complete a circuit of  200 meters run, 200 meters swim and 200 meters run at a stretch in under eight minutes.
  • Be able to surface dive and swim 25m underwater.

    You will be a Certified Life Guard by completing the following:

    • Theory, Pool and Open Water Training
    • Demonstrate a level of fitness to meet the operational requirement.
    • Demonstration of Simulated Rescue Scenarios with Correct Techniques.
    • Describe the basic principles of identifying and managing aquatic and beach-related emergencies.
    • Successful completion of Written or Oral Assessments
    • The swim is to be done showing aquatic skill competency within a 10-minute time frame.
